Trump Boasts Ratings While 42 Million Americans Lose Food Aid

Survey shows a drop in approval, while Trump denigrates food‑aid cuts for 42 million Americans, even as he dazzles with a marble‑lined Lincoln bathroom.

IPSOS: 67% of Americans Dissatisfied With U.S. Leaders

An IPSOS poll commissioned by ABC News and the Washington Post found that 67% of respondents said the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction in terms of quality of life, while a third held a different opinion. The survey was conducted amid a month‑long shutdown that followed Congress’s failure to pass a budget, leading to funding suspensions for many federal agencies. Commentators noted that a 75% dissatisfaction level had been recorded in late 2023, just before the presidential election.

Bad News for Trump

Six out of ten Americans blame President Donald Trump for high inflation and criticize his tariff, economic, and federal management policies. Most respondents feel both the President and the major parties have lost touch with reality. Nearly half believe the U.S. international standing has weakened under Trump, whereas a third think it has improved. ABC News reports that such negative views foreshadow trouble for Republicans in next year’s congressional elections, with 59% of Americans currently criticizing Trump’s presidency and 41% expressing satisfaction with his leadership.

Support Poll for Trump

According to the latest YouGov poll released by The Economist, 58% of Americans are dissatisfied with how their President governs while only 39% support him. These figures represent the lowest support Trump has received in his second term and the second‑worst result across all polls for both terms. Trump, however, claimed during an Asian tour that he has the highest approval ratings ever recorded in a poll, and indicated he will run again in the 2028 presidential election.

42 Million Americans Lose Aid; Trump Showcases Marble and Opulence

Media reports that since November, 42 million Americans have lost SNAP food‑aid benefits. The shutdown forced the Trump administration to seek emergency funds for aid, but legal counsel stated the White House lacks authority and sufficient funds. SNAP normally provides $177 per month to the lowest‑income households. Meanwhile, the White House continued construction of a ballroom, and Trump boasted about a marble‑and‑gold renovation of the Lincoln bathroom. A recent Halloween party at Trump’s Florida estate featured a “Great Gatsby” theme, marketed under the slogan “A little party never killed nobody.”
