Trump accuses Zelensky of hindering peace, claiming Putin is ready to end Ukraine war.
Trump’s Remarks on Peace Negotiations
Donald Trump stated in a Reuters interview that Vladimir Putin is ready to make a peace deal. He assessed Ukraine as less prepared, identifying “Zelenski” as the obstacle to peace, urging the U.S. administration to convince the Ukrainian president to agree. Trump suggested Putin is prepared to end the nearly four-year invasion, while Zelensky should be more restrained.
Journalists noted Trump’s comments indicate growing frustration with the Ukrainian leader.
White House Delegation to Moscow
Bloomberg reported that senior White House advisors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner plan to visit Moscow in January to present a peace plan project to Putin. The document has recently been consulted and refined by the U.S., Ukraine, and European nations.
Russian officials, including Putin and spokesman Dmitry Peskov, have not commented on these reports. Russian state media, citing Reuters, stated Trump knows nothing about the proposed trip to Moscow, while quoting his view that Putin, not Zelensky, is ready for peace.
