On Wednesday, January 14, Donald Trump participated in a press conference at the White House. It was organized after a meeting involving the foreign ministers of Denmark, Greenland, and the United States, which took place in Washington.
One journalist asked Trump about the next steps of the United States regarding Greenland. – You don’t know what I will do. I certainly won’t give up on various options – said the American president.
He emphasized that Greenland is very important for security reasons, also for Denmark. – I can’t count on Denmark being able to defend itself – he added.

Trump stated that he has not yet received information about the meeting in which representatives of the United States, Denmark, and Greenland participated. He noted that the United States “has very good relations with Denmark”.
However, he stated that if the United States does not increase its presence in Greenland, China or Russia will. In his opinion, Denmark will be helpless in such a situation.

Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen met at the White House with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The Danish minister, after talks with Americans, admitted that there are still fundamental differences between the United States and Denmark and Greenland. – But we recognized these differences and we will continue to talk. We decided to establish a working group that will examine whether there is a common way forward – he added.
In turn, Vivian Motzfeldt said that the meeting at the White House was an opportunity to remind that Denmark and Greenland are allies and friends of the United States.
