Trump Drops Ukraine Ultimatum, Notes Progress with Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump has lifted his ultimatum on Ukraine, declaring no fixed deadline for a peace deal while reporting progress with Russia and outlining upcoming diplomatic meetings.

No Fixed Deadline for Ukraine Settlement

Trump said there is no set deadline for reaching a peace agreement in Ukraine, though he wants the process as swift as possible. He added that the ultimate date is when the conflict ends. Earlier, he had urged Ukraine to accept the U.S. proposals by Thursday.

U.S. Negotiators Advancing with Russia

Trump announced that his envoy, Steve Witkoff, will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, with Jared Kushner also involved in the talks. He claims progress has been made with both Russia and Ukraine, and that the Kremlin has agreed to some concessions, though details remain undisclosed. Trump stressed that Moscow holds the upper hand, yet he believes a settlement is in Kyiv’s best interest.

Zelensky Seeks Direct Talks with Trump

Ukrainian officials assess the U.S.-drafted peace plan as potentially implementable. President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested a direct conversation with Trump, and Ukraine’s president’s office stated a meeting could take place on November 27, Thanksgiving day, to resolve outstanding points, including Russia’s demand for territorial concessions. Trump said he could meet Zelensky and Putin only after a final agreement version, but he has already dispatched representatives: Witkoff to Moscow and Dana Driscoll to Kyiv.
