On December 16, Vanity Fair published an interview with President Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, in which she declared that Trump behaves like an alcoholic.
Trump’s “Alcoholic Personality” According to Chief of Staff
Susie Wiles, President Trump’s chief of staff, told Vanity Fair that Trump “has an alcoholic personality.” She explained that while Trump does not consume alcohol, his conduct mirrors that of a dependent, and that the alcoholic persona is exaggerated when he drinks.
Claims of Revenge Motives
Wiles admitted that Trump can be ruthless toward political enemies, though he is not as angry or impulsive as portrayed. She added that a tendency for revenge is evident, citing allegations against former FBI director James Comey as a possible retaliation.
Views on Trump Allies
Wiles criticized certain Trump allies. She said Vice President J.D. Vance’s shift from sharp criticism to support was politically motivated and that Vance has long believed in conspiracy theories. She also labeled White House Office of Management and Budget head Russell Vought a “far‑right fanatic.”
Reaction to Vanity Fair Article
In response to the article, Wiles posted on X that it was “unfairly constructed” and an attack on her, President Trump, the White House staff and cabinet. She claimed the piece ignored context, omitted statements about the team, and was intended to foster chaotic negative narration about the president and the team. Wiles did not deny the quoted statements.
