On Friday, President Trump declared that every document signed by President Biden with the auto‑pen is void, alleging the device was used without Biden’s consent.
Trump Challenges the Legality of Biden’s Actions
In a statement released on social media, Trump said that any document signed by “senior Joe” using the so‑called auto‑pen is nullified and loses legal effect.
He argues that the device was employed without Joe Biden’s permission by his administration’s representatives and that only documents personally signed by Biden should be legally binding.
Accusation of Perjury and Claim of Left‑Wing Sabotage
Trump claims that 92 percent of documents during Biden’s tenure were signed with the auto‑pen, and he accuses Biden’s aides of illegal conduct.
He warned that if Biden asserts his involvement in the signing process, he will be charged with perjury. Trump further said that “radical left‑wing lunatics surrounding Biden at the Resolute desk in the Oval Office have taken the presidency from him.”
Since June, Trump has responded to these accusations, stating that he was the one making “decisions on pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations,” and that any suggestion he did not take those actions is absurd and false.
Biden’s Portrait Replaced by Auto‑Pen Image
A few months ago, Trump replaced Joe Biden’s portrait in the White House gallery with an image of the auto‑pen.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has repeatedly focused on the auto‑pen issue. The device is officially permitted in federal procedures to facilitate signing more documents.
Presidents of both parties, including Trump himself, have used the auto‑pen. The U.S. Department of Justice’s 2005 guidelines state that a president does not have to physically sign a bill he approves for it to become law.
