Trump sends hospital ship to Greenland. “It is on its way”

President Trump announces deployment of hospital ship to Greenland amid unclear local coordination and recent medical evacuation from region.

Trump’s Announcement on Truth Social

President Trump posted on Truth Social: “Working with the fantastic governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, we are sending a wonderful hospital ship to Greenland to care for the many sick who are not receiving care there. It is on its way.” Jeff Landry also serves as the U.S. special envoy to Greenland.

Lack of Official Confirmation

Neither the White House, Jeff Landry’s office, nor the Department of War has commented on the president’s post. It remains unclear if local authorities requested the hospital ship’s presence. The relationship between Landry and this matter, as well as any connection to the recent evacuation, is also unknown.

U.S. Naval Hospital Ships

The U.S. Navy operates two hospital ships, the Mercy and the Comfort, but neither is stationed in Louisiana.

Recent Medical Evacuation

Trump’s post came hours after Danish authorities reported evacuating a crew member from a U.S. submarine off the coast of Greenland. The crew member requiring medical care was transported to a hospital in Nuuk.
