On September 20, US President Donald Trump threatened the Venezuelan government with severe consequences if it does not take back migrant criminals, warning of an “incalculable price” to be paid.
Trump’s Ultimatum to Venezuela
Trump posted on Truth Social that Venezuela “forced” criminals to come to the United States, stating that some of them are “lunatics” and “monsters” from psychiatric wards. He demanded Venezuela to immediately accept all prisoners back, claiming thousands have been seriously injured or killed by these individuals.
New Immigration Policies
Additionally, Trump signed an executive order introducing a $100,000 fee for certain H-1B work visas, aiming to limit the program’s abuse. The new fee is significantly higher than the previous cost of around $1,000. This move is part of a broader effort to restrict immigration and implement stricter rules for foreign nationals entering the country.
“Golden Card” Initiative
Trump also ordered the creation of a “golden card” that would expedite the visa process for certain immigrants in exchange for a $1 million fee. This initiative is designed to attract highly skilled foreign workers in specialized fields while ensuring a pathway for American workers to be hired.
