Trump Warns Iran Against Strait of Hormuz Tolls

Donald Trump publicly criticized Iran’s potential plans to charge tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, demanding they “immediately stop!”

Iran Considers Tanker Tolls

Donald Trump reacted to reports that Iran is considering imposing fees on tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, potentially reaching $2 million per vessel.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global energy trade, with approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passing through it. Any disruption to shipping could lead to political tensions and price fluctuations.

Trump’s Strong Response

Trump voiced his concerns on Truth Social, stating, “Reports are coming out that Iran is charging tankers so much to get through the Strait of Hormuz — hopefully that will not happen, and if it does, let them stop immediately!”

He followed up with a harsher assessment, calling Iran’s handling of oil passage through the strait “very bad—some would say disgraceful—It is not our deal!”

US-Iran Truce and Oman’s Role

The reports of potential tolls emerged alongside announcements of a truce between Washington and Tehran, reportedly brokered by Pakistan, which included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Initial discussions also involved potential fees from both Iran and Oman, but Omani authorities quickly denied any plans to impose such charges.
