Ukrainian Negotiator Andrij Jermak Resigns Amid Corruption Scandal

On Friday, November 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the resignation of Andrij Jermak, once the president’s closest associate and informal deputy. Jermak had been slated to travel to Florida for U.S.–Ukrainian talks but withdrew, citing humiliation and lack of support amid a growing corruption scandal. Jermak described the situation as a disgrace and expressed a desire to avoid further troubles for Zelensky.

Florida Talks Yield Significant Ukrainian Progress

The U.S. delegation, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the Ukrainian side, represented by National Security and Defense Advisor Rustem Umerov, met in Florida. Rubio emphasized that a war‑ending strategy should establish a mechanism for moving forward that restores Ukraine’s independence and prevents future conflict. Umerov said the negotiations made great progress and thanked the U.S. team.
