Trump squandered nearly all polling advantages that secured his presidency, as Americans increasingly prefer Biden’s leadership.
Trump’s Lost Polling Advantage
According to a new Axios analysis of presidential approval ratings, Donald Trump has squandered “nearly every” polling advantage that helped him win the presidency. Three nationwide surveys show an unfavorable trend for Trump, with a majority of Americans believing Joe Biden was a better president.
Public Approval of Biden
Notably, Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race due to low approval ratings, even within his own Democratic party. This development comes amid a series of polls that have raised concerns about Trump’s standing with the American public.
Border Policy Criticism
NBC News highlights that voters negatively evaluate how Trump’s administration has secured borders and fought illegal immigration. “The administration’s aggressive tactics and deportation targets have lowered Trump’s perception among Americans on this very issue, which helped him return to the presidency,” the station noted.
Economic Concerns
During his campaign, Trump promised Americans would live better due to a developing economy. However, CNN analyst Harry Enten emphasized that approval ratings for Trump’s economic policies are 26 percentage points lower than during his first term in office.
