A new CNN‑SSRS poll released in late October shows Trump’s approval at 37% and disapproval at 63%, marking the largest decline since January 2021.
Record‑Low Support in CNN‑SSRS Poll
The CNN‑SSRS survey conducted in late October found that only 37% of respondents approved of Trump’s conduct, while 63% disapproved. That figure is close to the lowest rating recorded in January 2021, when 34% approved following the Capitol attack.
Among “independent” voters, approval fell 15 percentage points from 43% to 28%, with similar 14‑point drops among ages 35‑49, 65+, and low‑income Americans earning under $50,000.
YouGov and Ipsos Findings
YouGov’s October 24‑27 poll commissioned by The Economist shows 58% of participants dissatisfied with Trump’s governance, with only 39% offering partial or full support.
Ipsos, working for ABC News and The Washington Post, surveyed 41% of voters approving Trump, while 59% disagreed—conducted October 24‑28.
Trump’s Third‑Term Speculation
Trump has voiced a desire to seek a third term, despite the 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to two terms. When asked on October 27 about a 2028 run, he said he would “love to do it.”
He later clarified that his legal reading makes a third term impossible and dismissed the idea of circumventing the amendment by serving as vice‑president first.
