Turkish National Remanded in Custody Following Fatal Zielonka Crash

A 37-year-old Turkish citizen, Bayram A., has been remanded in custody for three months after causing a fatal collision in Zielonka on June 6, 2026, which claimed two lives.

Court Orders Three-Month Detention

The Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday that the court has approved a motion for a three-month pre-trial detention for the suspect involved in the June 6, 2026, accident. The decision followed a request from the prosecutor, who had earlier initiated procedures to detain the suspect on June 8.

Fatal Collision Details

The accident occurred at the intersection of Piłsudskiego and Szwoleżerów streets in Zielonka. According to investigators, Bayram A., driving a Honda, attempted a U-turn from the far-right lane of a dual carriageway. While crossing the left lane, his vehicle was struck by an Audi that had the green light.

The impact was severe enough to split the Audi into multiple parts, which subsequently struck other vehicles. Of the three people inside the Audi, two died after being transported to the hospital, and a third sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, who was sober, was arrested at the scene.

Formal Charges and Legal Proceedings

Prosecutors have charged Bayram A. with violating road safety rules, failing to exercise proper caution, and performing an illegal maneuver that led to the deaths and injuries. Five individuals in other vehicles were also put at immediate risk of death or injury.

During his interrogation, the suspect refused to enter a plea or provide explanations. He faces a potential sentence ranging from six months to eight years in prison. The Wołomin District Prosecutor’s Office is conducting the ongoing investigation.
