Tusk Arrives in Kyiv; Set to Discuss Reconstruction with Zelensky

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in Kyiv on Thursday for discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On Thursday, February 5, Donald Tusk arrived in Kyiv. The Prime Minister laid flowers at the Wall of Memory of Those Who Died for Ukraine at the Michael’s Monastery. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also participated in the ceremonies.

Reconstruction Plans Discussed

Tusk came to Kyiv at Zelensky’s invitation. During his visit to Ukraine, he will talk with the President of Ukraine and the head of the local government, Julia Swyrydenko. The Prime Minister is accompanied by Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański, who is preparing a world conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The event, which will take place in June in Gdansk, will be one of the topics of discussion in Kyiv. – We hope that after the war ends quickly, or at least a ceasefire, that we can start with the great plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine. And this also means big investments, big money, big projects. Poland wants to participate in them – Tusk was quoted by PAP on Tuesday, February 3.

Energy Crisis on Agenda

Tusk is also to talk with Ukrainian politicians about the energy crisis in Ukraine, caused by Russian attacks. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha referred to this, stating: “This is an important visit of a true friend. Poland is a leader in supporting Ukraine, including in energy assistance. We appreciate such solidarity and our strategic partnership. We look forward to a fruitful visit and substantive talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky.”
