Tusk Declares Poland a Baltic Port Power, “Future Unfolds Here”

Former prime minister Donald Tusk highlighted Poland’s role as a Baltic port powerhouse on 4 October at the Maritime University of Gdynia’s academic‑year inauguration, stressing future investments across the Baltic.

At the ceremony he praised already successful Polish projects on the Baltic Sea and said the government is committed to further development in the region.

He noted that the Baltic Sea is central to Poland’s future and declared, “Here our history and future unfold again.” The port cities, he added, shape the nation’s trajectory.

Tusk spoke of Gdańsk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Świnoujście, stressing that Poland is becoming a ‘port powerhouse’ on the Baltic. He highlighted major energy projects—wind farms, a nuclear plant, extensive infrastructure and port expansion—as evidence of this ambition.

Government Plans New Ships for Maritime Universities

The cabinet announced a program funding almost 1 billion zlotys through 2029 to design, build and equip research vessels for the Szczecin Maritime Technical University and a sailship for the Gdynia Maritime University.
