Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized transactional policies in Munich, stating “everyone can be sold” in response to those who believe everything can be bought.
Tusk Attacks Trump
“Here and there I hear opinions that it’s time for transactional policy and concert of great powers. Those who think everything can be bought should remember that according to this philosophy, everyone can be sold,” wrote Donald Tusk on Monday. The Prime Minister referred to his statement during the Munich Security Conference.
“Sometimes I hear opinions that Europe is on the brink of collapse, that NATO is obsolete, that the old world order should no longer exist, and now it’s time for transactional policy and concert of great powers. Nonsense. Those who think everything can be bought should also remember that according to this philosophy, anyone can be sold,” said the head of government, to which the audience reacted with applause.
Zelensky Receives Munich Security Award
The Prime Minister made his remarks during a laudation for Volodymyr Zelensky, to whom the Munich Security Conference awarded the Ewald von Kleist Prize.
“I am very grateful for the decision regarding support for the Ukrainian nation and the award. There is no good enough award. Even the Nobel Prize would not be sufficient. I am absolutely convinced that you deserve more,” said Tusk.
Trump’s Transactional Policy Criticized
It is worth noting that Donald Trump demanded the Nobel Peace Prize, but it was given to Venezuelan opposition Maria Corina Machado. Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson and Chairman of the Israeli Knesset Amir Ochanna requested this award be given to the U.S. President.
The request for support for the application was submitted to the Sejm, but the Marshal assessed that Trump does not deserve this award. “President Trump destabilizes the situation in these organizations representing a policy of force and using force to conduct transactional policy. This is a violation of policies, values, often violating international law. Tariff policy, different interpretation of history, e.g., regarding the involvement of Polish soldiers on missions, instrumental treatment of other territories, as in the case of Greenland,” said Czarzasty.
Value Imposition Concerns
“One side tries to impose its values on the other,” highlighting concerns about unilateral approaches in international relations.
