Tusk Published Recording: “Even Mentzen Noticed It” – He Quickly Got a Retort

On January 15, Donald Tusk shared a video clip of Sławomir Mentzen discussing EU relations, prompting a quick response from the Confederation leader.

Mentzen Comments on EU Approach

On Sunday, January 11, Sławomir Mentzen was interviewed on the Żurnalista YouTube channel. The Confederation leader was asked about relations with the European Union, stating that Donald Tusk is more assertive than Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

“If we look at relations with the European Union, then Tusk there, in my opinion, is more assertive than Mateusz Morawiecki. That’s how it looks when it comes not about discussion, but about doing,” Mentzen said.

PiS vs. Tusk on Europe

Mentzen contrasted Tusk’s approach with that of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party. He noted that while PiS uses anti-European rhetoric, the party ultimately agrees to and signs all EU agreements.

“Tusk already noticed this long ago, during his first term that he had to speak pro-European things because his electorate expected it, but in real actions in the EU he is very present. PiS does exactly the opposite,” Mentzen stated.

Tusk’s Response

On Thursday, January 15, Tusk shared a clip from the interview on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He commented: “So obvious that even MP Mentzen noticed it.”

In response, Mentzen wrote: “A pity that you didn’t include the other fragments about yourself.”

Mentzen’s Critique of Tusk’s Governance

During the same interview, Mentzen criticized Tusk’s approach to governance, suggesting that doing nothing is better than making mistakes.

“Donald Tusk has the following political method: better to lie down before you fall, better to do nothing, because if someone does nothing, they don’t make mistakes and there’s nothing to criticize them for,” Mentzen said.
