Donald Tusk published a video clip of Sławomir Mentzen praising his EU assertiveness, prompting a sharp response from Mentzen.
Tusk Shares Recording of Mentzen Interview
On Thursday January 15, Donald Tusk published on X a recording with Sławomir Mentzen. It was a fragment of an interview which the Confederation leader gave to the channel Żurnalista on YouTube. “Even MP Mentzen noticed that,” Tusk stated. “Too bad you didn’t include the other fragments about yourself,” Mentzen replied.
Mentzen on EU Relations
“If we look at relations with the European Union, Tusk is there, in my opinion, more assertive than Mateusz Morawiecki. That’s how it is when it comes not just to discussion but to action,” Mentzen said. “Tusk noticed this long ago, it was already visible during his first term, he had to speak pro-European because his electorate expected it, but in real actions within the EU he showed up. PiS does exactly the opposite. It has very anti-European rhetoric, but then agrees to everything and signs everything.”
Mentzen’s Critique of Tusk’s Governance
The conversation with Mentzen was published on the Żurnalista channel on Sunday January 11. The Confederation leader said, among other things, that “Tusk’s government is difficult to assess because they really don’t do anything.” Mentzen added: “Donald Tusk has the following political method: it’s better to lie down before you fall, better to do nothing, because if someone does nothing, they don’t make mistakes and there’s nothing to criticize them for.”
