Tusk Reacts Sharply to Nawrocki’s Trump Peace Council Invitation: “We Won’t Let Ourselves Be Played”

Polish Premier Donald Tusk firmly rejects Karol Nawrocki’s potential participation in Trump’s Peace Council, emphasizing Poland’s decision-making autonomy.

Tusk Comments on Peace Council Invitation

Following reports that Donald Trump invited Karol Nawrocki to the Peace Council, Prime Minister Donald Tusk issued a clear statement. “Poland’s accession to an international organization requires the approval of the Council of Ministers and ratification by the Sejm. The government will be guided exclusively by the interest and security of the Polish state. And we will not allow ourselves to be played,” wrote the prime minister.

Trump’s Peace Council

The Peace Council, which is to be chaired by Donald Trump, will oversee the activities of a temporary “Palestinian technical government” in the Gaza Strip. According to media reports, invitations to participate in the initiative went to politicians from several dozen countries. Among them are said to include Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko, Viktor Orban, as well as representatives of European Union and Middle Eastern countries.

Some of the invited leaders have already confirmed receiving the proposal. In total, the Council will include representatives from about 60 countries and organizations, including leaders from France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Turkey, as well as representatives from the Middle East region. The Council will be responsible, among other things, for rebuilding territories after conflicts, supporting regional relations, and attracting investment.

However, it is said that the Gaza Strip is a starting point, and ultimately Trump wants to create competition for the UN in this way. It is known that permanent membership in the Peace Council will cost one billion dollars.

Unclear Council Structure

The structure of the Peace Council is unclear. In addition to state representatives, there are also a “council board” and a “Gaza board.” Their controversial compositions were described in this article.

Invitation for Nawrocki

According to reports, Donald Trump had invited Polish President Karol Nawrocki to join the Peace Council. Nawrocki himself has not commented on the matter. Head of the Presidential Office of International Policy Marcin Przydach informed that a decision on Karol Nawrocki joining the initiative has not yet been made, but talks with Americans on this matter are to be held in the near future.
