Tusk Reveals Plan Against Russia; “We’re Investing Billions of Złoty”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced during a Helsinki press conference that Poland is committing billions of zlotys to build an advanced anti‑drone wall to secure the eastern flank against Russia.

Anti‑Drone Wall Aimed at Russia

During his visit to Helsinki, Tusk told reporters that securing the eastern flank has been a priority since the beginning of his premiership and that it is absolutely crucial for Poland’s security. He explained that Poland had started building the East Shield following the war in Ukraine and the threat from Russia, and that the government is investing billions of zlotys in the project. The objective is to erect the most modern, effective anti‑drone barrier, saturated with technology, so that Russian aggressions cannot pose the same nuisance it does today.

Berlin Summit Focuses on Territorial Issues

Tusk also spoke about a Monday meeting in Berlin, emphasizing that the toughest issue for Ukraine and for all of Europe is the discussion over territorial concessions. He said it will be very difficult to find a compromise, but the genuine achievement of recent days has been that the United States, Ukraine and Europe have come together on one side. This alignment could increase the effectiveness of pressure on Russia to cease hostilities and ultimately end the war, though the process remains complex.

Eastern Flank Summit Strengthens EU Defence

A summit is being held in Helsinki with leaders from the EU eastern flank, whose aim is to strengthen defence cooperation among countries bordering the eastern edge of the EU. The meeting includes leaders from Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Sweden. Tusk represents the Polish side.
