Two former TVN Turbo reporters have been charged with rape, prosecutors allege they coerced two women by exploiting alcohol, and the case is proceeding in Katowice district court.
The case of two former TVN Turbo journalists
In a case opened in July, prosecutors in Katowice‑North allege that two former TVN Turbo journalists used alcohol intoxication to coerce two women aged 26 and 34 into sexual acts. The indictment, filed in late June, was sent to the District Court in Katowice. The men denied guilt, stating they were victims of provocation, and TVN subsequently announced a suspension of cooperation with them.
New information
The first hearing was held on September 9, but the court excluded public access due to the case’s nature. A second hearing is scheduled for October 23 at 9:00 in the Katowice district court. The exclusive proceedings were ordered by a July 16, 2025 decision, requested by both the prosecutor and the defendants’ lawyers.
Help for victims
Sexual violence is any unwanted sexual contact. UNICEF reports that about 15 million nine‑to‑nineteen‑year‑olds worldwide have experienced such violence, yet only one percent seek professional help. Studies show 80 percent of rape victims develop PTSD. Victims can call the “Blue Line” helpline at 22 668 70 00 or the 24‑hour intervention line of the Women’s Rights Centre at 600 070 717.
