Twarda Street Cut Off from John Paul II Avenue for Bike Path Construction

Starting March 2, Twarda Street will be closed at John Paul II Avenue as construction begins on a new bicycle path from Roundabout ONZ to Solidarności Avenue.

Construction Begins

Construction of a bicycle road from Roundabout ONZ to Solidarności Avenue, on the side of Mirow Hall, will commence on Monday, March 2. Road workers will close Twarda Street at John Paul II Avenue as part of this project.

Green Investment

Along the newly built bicycle road, there will be additional greenery, including 99 new trees and three pocket parks. This is another investment in the New Center of Warsaw, co-financed by European Union funds.

No Exit from Twarda

Road workers have already been working on sidewalks and parking spaces between Grzybowska and Solidarności Avenue. At 12:00 on March 2, they will fence off the right lane of John Paul II Avenue from Roundabout ONZ to the bus stop beyond Twarda. Drivers heading toward Solidarności Avenue will use three lanes and won’t be able to turn onto Twarda Street.

Twarda Street from the Grzybowska side will end in a dead end before the construction site. The closed section of Twarda can be bypassed via Emilii Plater and Świętokrzyska or Grzybowska streets.

Traffic Changes

During modernization, Twarda Street will be converted to one-way traffic only toward Grzybowska. The intersection of Twarda and John Paul II Avenue will be raised, and a bicycle passage will be created there.

Construction Timeline

Work on John Paul II Avenue, from Roundabout ONZ to Grzybowska, is scheduled to continue until mid-June.
