A 37-year-old Turkish national faces charges after his Honda collided with an Audi in Zielonka on June 6, 2026, resulting in two fatalities and one person suffering life-threatening injuries.
The Collision and Fatal Aftermath
The incident occurred on June 6, 2026, at the intersection of Piłsudskiego and Szwoleżerów streets in Zielonka. The crash involved a Honda driven by 37-year-old Bayram A. and an Audi carrying three occupants.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the Honda driver was in the far-right lane of the dual carriageway on Piłsudskiego Street when he initiated a U-turn. As he crossed the far-left lane, he collided with the Audi, which was entering the intersection on a green light.
The impact was so severe that the Audi disintegrated, striking a traffic light pole before scattering parts across the roadway and hitting other vehicles. Two occupants of the Audi died later that day in the hospital, while a third sustained life-threatening injuries.
Legal Proceedings Against the Suspect
Bayram A. was detained immediately following the accident; a breathalyzer test confirmed he was sober. On June 8, 2026, the Wołomin District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the fatal incident.
The prosecutor has charged Bayram A. with violating traffic safety rules, citing a failure to exercise caution, improper observation of the road, and changing lanes against traffic signals. Prosecutors have requested a three-month temporary arrest for the suspect.
During questioning, the suspect did not state whether he admitted to the charges and declined to provide explanations. He faces a potential sentence of six months to eight years in prison.
