Police Investigation and Arrests
On May 22, the Gdańsk Provincial Police announced the detention of a 20-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man. The man was apprehended on May 21 after the prosecutor’s office decided to pursue the case ex officio, while the woman turned herself in at the police station.
The suspects have been charged with assaulting the boy and causing injuries requiring less than seven days of treatment, with the prosecutor classifying the act as hooliganism. Both are under police supervision, prohibited from leaving the country, and forbidden from contacting the victim.
Prosecutor’s Detailed Findings
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Słupsk stated that the 12-year-old was cycling with a friend when the male suspect initially kicked his bike and pursued him. Approximately 30 minutes later, the suspects cornered the boy again near Szeroka and Śródmiejska streets.
According to the evidence, the man grabbed the child, while the woman allegedly struck the boy’s face, spat on him, and used verbal abuse. The attackers also intentionally damaged the boy’s bicycle by letting air out of the tires before bystanders intervened.
