Two Drunk Drivers Arrested in Wolsztyn, Facing Deportation

On Saturday, 15 November, two Ukrainian drivers were stopped in Wolsztyn and the nearby town of Karpick for suspected drunken driving, leading to criminal convictions and deportation requests.

First Incident in Wolsztyn

In the evening of 15 November, officers of the Wolsztyn County Police received a traffic incident report near the city center. They found a BMW driver, 34‑year‑old Ukrainian, who, while leaving a parking lot, collided with a reporting vehicle. A breath test revealed nearly two promille of alcohol.

Second Incident in Karpick

On Sunday, 16 November at 16:30, the traffic police stopped a 58‑year‑old Ukrainian in a Dacia Logan in Karpick. The driver was arrested for suspected drunken driving; his breath test showed 0.79 mg/l, equivalent to 1.65 promille.

Court Rulings and Deportation Orders

Both cases were presented in expedited proceedings on 19 November. The BMW driver received six months’ imprisonment and a lifetime ban on operating motor vehicles. The Dacia driver was sentenced to seven months’ custodial detention, suspended for one year, plus a four‑year driving prohibition. Both were ordered to lose the values of their vehicles, 50 000 zł for the BMW and 12 000 zł for the Dacia. Deportation requests were forwarded to the Border Guard.
