Two Hospitalised after Train Collision at Warsaw Central Station

On Monday, December 22, a collision between two Warsaw commuter trains at Warszawa Śródmieście WKD injured two women, one Ukrainian and one Filipino, who were taken to hospital.

Collision Details

At 18:05 on December 22, one train driver collided the rear of an empty train that was stationary at the Warszawa Śródmieście WKD station. The moving train, carrying passengers, struck it for unknown reasons.

Casualties and Medical Response

Four people were examined by medical rescuers; two women were transported to hospital—one a Ukrainian citizen and the other a Filipino citizen. The driver involved was reported to be sober at the time of the accident.

Emergency Operations

Four fire‑brigade squads, a municipal operational unit and several medical rescue teams worked at the scene. Firefighters focused on securing the site while police conducted investigations into the incident’s causes and circumstances.

Impact on Service

The collision caused severe disruptions to WKD services. Track 2 (right‑hand track toward Warsaw) on the Komorów–Warszawa Śródmieście section was closed until damaged cars were removed. Trains from Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Milanówka were rerouted and are being turned back at Komorów.

Current Situation

Operations at the site continue with efforts to secure the area and determine the collision’s cause. Full service restoration will depend on the pace of debris removal and the completion of police and rescue work.
