Polish border guards detained a Latvian and a Georgian national at Warsaw Chopin Airport over the weekend, acting on European Arrest Warrants.
Latvian Citizen Detained on Money Laundering Charges
A 27-year-old Latvian citizen was apprehended upon arrival from Reykjavik. He is wanted by Latvian authorities for alleged involvement in an organized crime group engaged in money laundering, drug trafficking, and violent acts.
Following procedures at the Warsaw-Okęcie Border Guard post, the man was transferred to the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. The Warsaw District Court ordered a 7-day temporary arrest.
Georgian Citizen Sought for Property Crimes
A 38-year-old Georgian national was detained during passport control before a flight to Kutaisi. Checks revealed he was using altered personal data and was wanted by German authorities on a European Arrest Warrant for property crimes.
Polish law enforcement was also seeking the Georgian citizen. The Warsaw District Court issued a temporary arrest warrant, and he will be transferred to a detention center pending further investigation by the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office.
