Two Men Detained After Banging Explosive Shell Against Pavement

Authorities in Pruszków intervened on June 7 after reports emerged of two homeless men striking a projectile against the sidewalk on Ołówkowa Street, triggering a major emergency response operation.

Discovery on Ołówkowa Street

Emergency services were alerted on June 7 at 8:18 PM regarding an object resembling a projectile lying on the sidewalk at 3/5 Ołówkowa Street in Pruszków. Police and firefighters were dispatched to secure the site.

The intervention had actually begun much earlier. Following reports received after 6:00 PM, municipal guards arrived at the scene to find two men striking the object against the ground. The guards secured the area and summoned additional emergency personnel.

Counter-terrorist Unit Intervention

Police and firefighters arrived at 8:30 PM to isolate the area. Given the nature of the discovery, traffic on Ołówkowa Street was blocked while experts evaluated the site.

At 10:00 PM, explosives experts from the Police Independent Counter-Terrorist Sub-division arrived. The officers successfully secured the dangerous item, with the operation concluding at approximately 11:50 PM.

Investigation Underway

Police arrested two homeless men in connection with the incident. The individuals claimed to have found the shell in a dumpster.

Both men face charges under Article 171 § 1 of the Penal Code. Authorities are currently investigating the origin of the projectile and the specific circumstances surrounding its movement to the residential area.
