Before 8 a.m. on Solidarności Avenue in Śródmieście, a tram that had stopped in front of a signal rear‑ended a 160‑line bus, then struck another tram, injuring 23 people, 17 of whom were hospitalized.
Collision Sequence
At the intersection of Solidarności Avenue and Bielańska Street, a tram running as a technical test stopped before a traffic signal, the bus on line 160 halted behind it, and a fourth‑line tram collided with the bus, pushing it into the stationary test tram.
Injury Count
Twenty‑three people required medical assistance; seventeen were transported to hospitals in Warsaw, while six declined transport after first aid on the scene.
Emergency Response
More than 15 medical rescue teams and roughly 10 fire brigade contingents, including the municipal operational group, are on site. Police, transport supervision, and WTP personnel are also involved.
Traffic Disruption
Road and rail traffic on Solidarności Avenue toward Wola is completely blocked; vehicles cannot pass the accident site until cleanup finishes.
Alternate Tram Routes
Trams on lines 1, 4, 6, 13, 18, 20, 23, 26 are rerouted via Jagiellońska – Ratuszowa – Targowa – Zieleniecka Avenue, Poniatowski Bridge – Jerozolimskie Avenue to their destinations. Lines 13, 20, 23, 26 heading toward Cm. Wolski/Boernerowo/Nowe Bemowo/Metro Młociny are also diverted to the nearest possible crossings.
