U.S. and Ukraine Issue Joint Statement

On Sunday, November 23, representatives of the United States and Ukraine met in Geneva to discuss the U.S.-proposed peace plan. At the meeting’s conclusion a joint statement was released.

The statement said the consultations had been very fruitful, that discussions had made significant progress toward agreed positions and clear next steps.

It confirmed that any future agreement must fully respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and provide a lasting, just peace, and that the parties had drafted an updated and refined peace plan.

Further Work on Updated Peace Plan

According to the communiqué, U.S. and Ukrainian delegations will continue working on joint proposals in the coming days, engaging closely with European partners.

Both sides reiterated their readiness to cooperate for a peace leading to security, stability, and reconstruction of Ukraine. Kyiv expressed gratitude for the engagement.

The final decisions will be taken by the presidents of Ukraine and the United States.

Trump‑Kremlin Draft Criticised

Reuters reported that the earlier draft was developed by Donald Trump’s representatives and Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, and that it appeared to favour Russian interests.

Axios found the 28‑point plan would hand Donbas and Crimea to Russia and limit the presence of Ukrainian armed forces—conditions demanded by the Kremlin.

During talks, Zelensky said new reports showed “many changes”, and the Ukrainian president noted that Trump’s team was listening.
