Following a British parliamentary decision to ban cigarette sales for those born after 2009, a Polish poll gauged public opinion on similar measures.
Poll Results: Support for Tobacco Sales Ban
A recent poll indicated majority support for a ban on selling cigarettes to individuals born after a specific year, with 52.17% (624 votes) responding positively.
Conversely, 40.22% (481 votes) opposed the ban, while 7.61% (91 votes) were undecided. A total of 1196 responses were collected on April 27, 2026.
Poland Considers Disposable E-Cigarette Ban
Poland is also advancing regulations concerning nicotine products, with the Council of Ministers approving a bill on March 10, 2026, to prohibit the sale and distribution of disposable e-cigarettes, both with and without nicotine.
Increased Controls and Penalties
The proposed legislation includes expanded market oversight and penalties for violations, including fines up to 200,000 złoty or restrictions on freedom. Inspectors will gain enhanced authority to examine the composition of e-cigarettes and liquids.
The bill also addresses flavored nicotine pouches and provides a six-month transition period for products to meet new requirements. Approval from the European Commission will be required for certain provisions, including those related to nicotine-containing e-cigarettes.
