Ukraine’s delegation departs for the United States, omitting former presidential chief of staff Andriy Jermak, as President Zelenski lists the nine‑member team.
Mission of the Delegation
The group flies to the United States to discuss a peace plan, with U.S. President’s special envoy for Kremlin contacts Steve Wiktor and Trump’s son‑in‑law Jared Kushner acting as representatives. Their role was pivotal in achieving the cease‑fire in Gaza.
Composition of the Delegation
The nine‑member delegation includes Security Chief Rustem Umerow, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov, Deputy Head of the Security Service Vadym Polkov, and Chief of the General Staff Andrij Hnatov. Former presidential chief of staff Andriy Jermak was dismissed on Friday.
US Representatives
Steve Wiktor serves as a special envoy to manage contacts with the Kremlin, while Jared Kushner represents the Trump family’s interests in the meetings.
Peace Negotiations
Zelenski posted a report on X, urging swift and substantive preparation of steps to end the war. He expects outcomes from the Geneva meetings to be finalized in the United States.
Trump’s Deadline Withdrawn
Initially, Wiktor was to fly to Moscow for a meeting with Vladimir Putin, and Trump had set a Thursday, November 27 deadline for Ukraine to approve a proposed plan. Trump later withdrew that deadline, stating he does not want to impose dates and emphasizes the need for a decisive end to the conflict.
