Peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the USA commence in Abu Dhabi on January 23, with Zelensky emphasizing the Donbas issue as crucial.
Ukraine-Russia-USA Peace Talks
On Friday, January 23, two-day peace negotiations will begin in Abu Dhabi involving Ukraine, Russia, and the USA. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zełenski addressed journalists regarding the meeting, stating: “The issue of Donbas is key. The manner in which this matter is perceived by the three sides will be discussed.”
US Representation
The United States will be represented by special envoy Donald Trump Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, during the talks in Abu Dhabi. Witkoff and Kushner traveled to the United Arab Emirates for talks with Vladimir Putin, which took place in Moscow.
Russian and Ukrainian Delegations
Heading the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi will be Igor Kostiukov, head of the GRU military intelligence. The delegation will also include representatives from Russia’s Ministry of Defense. Ukraine will be represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerow, Head of the Presidential Office Kyryło Budanow, his deputy Serhij Kysłyca, Chief of the General Staff Andrij Hnatow, and Dawid Arachamia, parliamentary faction leader of Sługa Ludu, the party founded by Zełenski.
