Ukraine’s embassy in Poland condemned a Kanał Zero report, accusing it of spreading ‘Russian propaganda’ over its map of Crimea.
Controversial Report from Russia on Kanał Zero
A report aired on Wednesday on Kanał Zero, concerning life near Kaliningrad, sparked significant controversy. Politicians, including government spokesperson Adam Szłapka, criticized it, questioning whether a journalistic report could be produced in Russia without the consent and assistance of local authorities. The map featured in the material also proved problematic.
Ukrainian Embassy’s Intervention After Kanał Zero Report
“The map of Europe presented by Kanał Zero violates international law!” wrote Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar on X on Sunday. “We remind that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. Poland consistently takes the same position…” he added, sharing the full embassy post.
“State borders are not a matter of ‘opinion’ or attempts to curry favor with anyone, but a clear legal fact. We demand appropriate corrections be made,” the post stated. It concluded by questioning the purpose of creating such an informational material in Poland that serves Russian propaganda interests. “Was this material created in the interest of Poles, or is it an attempt to ‘understand and justify’ Russian war criminals?”

The first episode of Maria Wiernikowska’s report “I Knew” premiered on Kanał Zero on Wednesday (4 February). “She decided and did it. She packed up and traveled deep into Russia. Since Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Russia has seemed like a distant and forbidden world. Maria Wiernikowska decided to check – is travel to Russia for Poles possible, how do Russians live, and what do they think about the war?” describes the episode on Kanał Zero.
