Ukrainian Influencer’s Illegal Joyride to Morskie Oko Sparks Outrage

A Ukrainian influencer drove his sports car over eight kilometers into the restricted Tatra National Park, receiving only a nominal fine after allegedly misleading police officers about his actions.

A Lax Penalty for a Protected Area Violation

Ukrainian influencer Andrij Gawryliw drove a Corvette more than eight kilometers along the restricted road to Morskie Oko in the Tatra National Park. Despite regulations allowing for fines of up to 5,000 PLN, police issued a ticket for only 100 PLN after the driver claimed he had merely crossed the barrier and immediately turned back.

Political Response and Legal Consequences

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has condemned the incident as a source of “understandable outrage.” He has formally requested that the Ministry of Interior and Administration urgently investigate the details of the event and ensure that strict consequences are imposed on the driver.

Park Authorities and Ongoing Investigation

Tatra National Park (TPN) officials were unaware of the intrusion until photos appeared online. Director Szymon Ziobrowski confirmed that the road is clearly marked as restricted, and the park’s own guard service is now conducting an independent investigation. Due to ongoing road repairs, the barrier at the Palenica Białczańska trailhead had been temporarily disengaged at the time of the incident.
