Ukrainian President Questions Hungarian Drones Over Airspace Violation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Hungarian reconnaissance drones may have breached Ukraine’s airspace near the border.

Initial Reports of Airspace Intrusion

President Zelenskyy disclosed during a Friday, September 26, X (formerly Twitter) briefing with military commanders that intelligence reports indicated drones violated Ukrainian airspace. He suggested the drones were likely Hungarian, near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

Potential Industrial Reconnaissance

Zelenskyy stated preliminary assessments suggest the drones may have been conducting reconnaissance on Ukraine’s industrial capabilities in border regions. He ordered a thorough verification of all available information and immediate reporting of any recorded incidents.

Military Updates and Counteroffensive

During the briefing, Zelenskyy emphasized the counteroffensive in Dobropol, discussed the situation in Kupiansk, and mentioned the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. He also highlighted the downing of a Russian Su-34 bomber in the Zaporizhzhia region, thanking soldiers involved in the operation. Zelenskyy stated the aircraft, along with others, had been used by Russia to drop aerial bombs on Ukrainian cities and villages, vowing to continue destroying Russian military aviation in response.
