On Thursday, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese released a report alleging Israel and certain third‑country actors, including Poland, are complicit in a systematic genocide against Gaza residents.
UN Report Accuses Israel of Systematic Genocide
Albanese described the violence in Gaza as a “collective crime,” noting that it is carried out with the indirect support of influential third‑country governments that enable Israel to repeatedly violate international law. She said the narrative, rooted in colonial discourse, dehumanizes Palestinians and that live‑streamed brutality was possible through material, diplomatic and in some cases active participation by these states.
Poland Appears Three Times as Arms Supplier
The report lists Poland three times, identifying it as a country that engages in indirect transfers by providing components used in weapons employed by Israel. Albanese highlighted Poland’s participation in the Arms Trade Treaty, noting that despite legal disputes, the state still supplies parts for F‑35 aircraft, which have been used extensively in Gaza’s destruction.
She cautioned that the treaty does not recognize distinctions between “defensive” or “non‑lethal” weapons, instead requiring a full assessment of the end use of any armament. Given the occupation’s ongoing unlawful use of force, the report argues nothing Israel does can be considered purely defensive.
Albanese also pointed out that Poland has boosted its trade with Israel by $237 million during the genocide period, reflecting the broader arms partnership, which includes joint defensive maneuvers and participation in Israeli air force exercises with several European and Middle‑Eastern countries.
US Proposes Multinational Force in Gaza
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States is drafting a UN resolution to establish a multinational force in Gaza. He emphasized that participating states must comply with their national laws, as many have indicated financial or personnel interest requiring an international agreement or resolution.
The Trump administration seeks to have Arab states transfer funds and deploy troops to form a force to maintain peace in Gaza and prevent Hamas from terrorizing the local population. Israel has already declined allowing Turkish soldiers to join these forces.
