On 27 October a collision at Warsaw’s UN roundabout involved a Volkswagen and a Skoda, with both drivers allegedly entering on green signals.
Collision Details
On 27 October at the junction of Prosta, Świętokrzyska, and Jana Pawła II Avenue, two passenger cars collided at the UN roundabout.
The vehicles were a Volkswagen and a Skoda.
Signal Discrepancy Claims
Preliminary accounts state that the Skoda driver entered the intersection from Jana Pawła II on a green light, heading toward the Arkadia shopping centre, while the Volkswagen driver similarly exited the roundabout toward Świętokrzyska, also on green.
Such a signal arrangement is impossible, indicating conflicting reports from the parties involved.
Recurrent Roundabout Problem
The UN roundabout is known to experience frequent accidents, often caused by drivers relying on incorrect signals when leaving the roundabout.
These dangerous collisions occur several times a week due to driver inattentiveness and the complex multi‑lane layout with many signalised movements.
Investigation Process
On scene, officials followed protocol, documenting the incident and securing evidence needed to determine responsibility.
The police will analyse signal indications for each approach, possible perceptual errors by drivers, and the geometry of the intersection at the time.
