What does the 01-U disability code signify?
The disability cause symbol 01-U refers to intellectual disability, specifically ranging from moderate impairment upward. This code reflects a diagnosis of a condition that causes functional disorders and limits life activities, based on the Wechsler scale.
An official disability certificate may contain up to three different symbols. The scope of support available to an individual depends largely on the degree of disability assigned by the evaluation commission.
Financial support and employment subsidies
The care allowance helps cover expenses related to the inability to live independently. It is available to disabled children, seniors over 75, and individuals with a significant degree of disability. Those with a moderate degree may qualify if the disability occurred before age 21, regardless of income.
Intellectual disability is classified as a special condition, allowing employers to receive higher monthly subsidies from the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON).
