During earthworks for a new nursery at Lower Elementary School No. 8 in Legionowo, workers encountered an object resembling a projectile, prompting an immediate halt to construction. Municipal authorities were notified at once, and the area was secured while students, staff and pool users safely evacuated the premises.
Evacuation and Safety Zone Established
A safety zone was delineated and all occupants of the school buildings and the ‘Wodne Piaski’ swimming pool were evacuated.
Sappers Scheduled for December 12, 2025
Officials announced that a team of demolition specialists is slated to work on the site on 12 December 2025.
School to Stay Closed Until Clearance
Until the bomb is removed, the school will remain closed. Parents and guardians are urged not to bring children to school on 12 December to prioritize safety.
‘Wodne Piaski’ Pool Temporarily Shut
The pool and surrounding area are closed until 12 December 2025 at 2 p.m., with the possibility of extension if needed. The operator cited the discovery of the unexploded device as the reason for the temporary shutdown, and stated that proper safety services are on‑site.
