Police in Warsaw received a report around 9 a.m. of an object resembling a balloon discovered in an uninhabited area near Duchnów.
Police Investigation Underway
The Warsaw Police Press Team reported receiving a notification regarding an object resembling a balloon located in a clearing in an uninhabited area. The report came from a resident of Duchnów in the Otwock County.
Police have checked the balloon for any explosive materials, and operations are ongoing at the scene.
Possible Smuggling Connection
RMF 24 reports the balloon may have been used for cigarette smuggling from Belarus. No contraband packages, SIM cards, or GPS devices were found with the balloon.
Police declined to comment on these reports when contacted by “Gazeta Wyborcza.”
