During the weekend of 21–23 November, Radom police detained several drivers who were intoxicated, most of whom had no driving licences.
Specific Incidents
On Friday, 21 November in Wolanow, a 30‑year‑old drove a Fiat with almost 3 promille, while on Saturday, 22 November in Radom’s Chodkiewicza Street, a 26‑year‑old collided with a traffic light pole while driving without a licence and with over one promille. In Wojciechow, a 50‑year‑old operated a quad bike containing 3.5 promille. On Sunday, 23 November in Skaryszew, a 39‑year‑old Audi caused a collision with a lorry at a petrol station while intoxicated. Another arrest occurred on Konopnej Street in Radom when a 42‑year‑old drove a Ford with about 2.5 promille and enlisted his 17‑year‑old son – who lacks a licence – to take the wheel.
Court Bans and Legal Consequences
One of the detainees held two court‑issued prohibitions on driving issued by the Radom District and Regional Courts. Driving under the influence is a crime punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment, or up to five years if the driver also fails to comply with prescribed penalties.
General Warning
Alcohol impairs concentration and reaction times, making intoxicated drivers a danger on the road. Drivers are reminded that driving on a double‑fuel may result in licence loss, criminal liability, and risk to others’ health and lives.
