Donald Tusk delivered an urgent address in Poland’s Sejm, warning that Russia has crossed a critical threshold amid escalating war with Ukraine.
Donald Tusk’s Address in the Sejm
Tusk began by briefly outlining the situation Poland faces due to the Russia‑Ukraine war and Russia’s escalating actions. He warned that recent events leave no room for illusion.
He said Russia is advancing a new stage of hybrid warfare aimed at destabilizing the state, and that some people do not grasp the seriousness. “Disruptive actions inspired by the Kremlin have recently crossed a critical threshold,” he added.
He then emphasised that “today we can already speak of state terrorism,” whose goal is the destruction of people, lives, and the destabilisation of the foundations of the Polish state.
Moscow’s Strategy is Clear
Beyond acts of disruption, Tusk cited other Russian initiatives, including a disinformation campaign and the attack on the Polish ambassador in St. Petersburg.
He said Moscow’s strategy is to provoke conflicts with Europe, with Ukraine, and most importantly, internally within Poland. “We must prevent this scenario or any part of it from materialising,” he said.
Tusk called on all Polish citizens and political actors to enforce this prevention.
Tusk: Five Commandments for Politicians Who Are Not Traitors
Tusk urged every Polish politician who is not a traitor to observe five simple commandments: do not repeat Russian propaganda lies; do not undermine trust in the Polish army and services; do not sabotage the state through legislative sabotage, including modern “liberum veto”; do not undermine European unity—be strong for the West, not Russia; support Ukraine in its fight against Russia without any “but.”
He warned that what is mistaken or ill‑advised in peaceful times becomes treason in war. He concluded that for national security against the Russian threat we will be either united, or not present at all.
