US Ambassador Asked Who Started Ukraine War, Gives Surprising Response

US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose declined to answer who started the war in Ukraine during a February 10 interview, calling the question a “clever attempt.”

US Ambassador on Peace Negotiations

Tom Rose, in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita” published on February 10, discussed peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which include US representatives. The US Ambassador to Poland stated he is not directly involved in these talks but would have mentioned if Putin had demanded allied troop withdrawals before Russia’s invasion.

When asked who started the war, why peace hasn’t been achieved, and what conditions are needed for peace, Rose replied: “This is a clever attempt, but I will not answer. This war must end. Negotiations are currently underway, and my opinion on this matter is irrelevant.”

Russia Threatens Military Response

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that any aggression against Russia would result in a military response. Lavrov emphasized that Russia’s main allies are its armed forces, including the army, navy, and aerospace forces.

The statement came amid the expiration of the US-Russia nuclear arms reduction treaty. Russian state media reported that Moscow had proposed a new agreement initiative but received no response. Lavrov expressed confidence in Russia’s security systems.

Ambassador Comments on Polish Sejm Marshal

Tom Rose addressed his response to Polish Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who had criticized Trump and refused to support a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for him. Rose stated: “We will not accept or tolerate scandalous insults against our president,” while acknowledging Polish citizens’ right to express opinions.

Czarzasty had previously criticized Trump’s approach to international organizations, saying he “destabilizes the situation” and conducts “a policy of force.” The Sejm Marshal firmly declared Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
