Following a speech at the Munich Security Conference where Marco Rubio urged Europeans to defend “Western civilization,” the US Secretary of State commenced visits to regional allies, starting in Bratislava and then proceeding to Budapest.
“Under Donald Trump’s presidency, Slovakia, and with it all of Central Europe, will become one of the key focus areas of US engagement,” assured during a meeting in this country.
Strategic Alignment
The United States does not conceal that it prioritizes cooperation with leaders whose thinking aligns with the White House’s position.
As early as December, the Defense One portal published the full, previously undisclosed version of the new US security strategy, which reveals Washington’s proposal to limit relations with Europe to selected countries whose authorities and political circles express views similar to those promoted by the Trump administration.
