US plans to deport large group of Ukrainians by military flights to Ukraine or Poland

U.S. authorities have announced plans to deport about 80 Ukrainian nationals, citing law violations, and will use military aircraft to send them to Ukraine or Poland.

Documents Reveal Deportation Plan

U.S. documents submitted to the Department of Justice show the administration intends to deport a 41‑year‑old Ukrainian man on Monday. ICE is also reportedly planning to deport a significant number of Ukrainian nationals.

Ukrainian Embassy Update

Ukrainian Ambassador Olha Stefaniszyna reports that roughly 80 Ukrainian citizens have received deportation orders for alleged violations of U.S. law. She noted that logistics for the deportations are still being developed and highlighted the lack of a direct flight link to Ukraine. The ambassador emphasized that deportation is a standard legal mechanism applied to all foreigners breaching stay conditions, regardless of citizenship.

Legal Concerns Amid War

One lawyer argued that since Ukraine remains at war, deportees could be forcibly conscripted and die in combat. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that ICE has not confirmed the planned deportations, but if the figure of 80 deported individuals is correct, it would be the most in recent years. In fiscal year 2024, 53 Ukrainian nationals were deported from the United States.

U.S. Security Department Stance

According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE is working cautiously because of operational security concerns. No final confirmation of the deportation plan has yet been given, though the department warns it remains on alert for potential changes.
