Speaking on Fox News, Trump said, “I think we have the suspect,” and suggested the arrest came about due to someone within his own circle turning him in. Trump expressed confidence that law enforcement would apprehend and convict the killer.
Killing Captured on University Surveillance Footage
The killing occurred as Kirk addressed the university audience. During his presentation, a question posed to him about transgender individuals involved in mass shootings led to a student firing a gun, striking Kirk in the neck, killing him. Federal authorities have released surveillance footage of the incident.
