A Mercedes electric van collided with a line 17 tram near the Nowodwory loop on Światowida Street around 5:50 p.m. today, causing significant traffic disruptions and blocking the line.
Collision Details
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the electric van failed to exercise proper caution while turning, resulting in an impact with the side of the tram. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those involved in the incident.
Emergency Response and Transit Disruptions
Emergency services, including the ZTM Traffic Supervision and Warsaw Trams personnel, worked at the scene to clear the blockage. The incident forced the curtailment of lines 2 and 17, with trams turning back at the Tarchomin Kościelny terminal due to the obstruction at the intersection of Światowida and Strumykowa streets.
Series of Incidents Across Warsaw
This collision marks the third incident involving a vehicle and a tram in Warsaw today. Earlier, similar accidents occurred at the intersection of Sikorskiego Avenue and Jana III Sobieskiego, and at the junction of Puławska and Lotników Avenue, both in the Mokotów district; no injuries were reported in those cases either.
