Vienna Building Collapse: Fatalities Reported

A construction scaffold collapsed in Vienna’s Alsergrund district on Tuesday, March 17th, resulting in four deaths and one injury.

The incident occurred around 2:30 PM on Tuesday, March 17th, in Vienna’s Alsergrund district. A scaffold positioned next to a building collapsed.

Vienna police reported that one construction worker was rescued by emergency services and transported to the hospital. Four other individuals were found dead under the rubble.

Worker Condition and Rescue Efforts

According to reports from the “Kurier” newspaper, some workers were able to leave the scene independently. However, the injured 45-year-old man sustained severe head injuries and fractures to his arms and legs.

His injuries are not life-threatening. Emergency services, including the fire department, ambulance, and police, were dispatched to the location. A drone was used to assess the situation.

Investigation Launched

By approximately 4:00 PM, the fire department began securing the affected area. The collapse occurred during renovations to the attic. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances.
