Wages Pose Risk, But Rate Cut Likely

Polish central bank sees March rate cut as possible, pending inflation data.

Decision Context

Currently, there are no strong arguments against a March rate cut, making it more probable than three weeks after January’s Monetary Policy Council meeting. However, absolute certainty remains absent.

The January inflation reading is still unknown. The Council expects it to be positive but cannot confirm it yet.

Data-Dependent Approach

The Council consistently emphasizes decisions are made meeting-to-meeting, based on incoming data and information.

March will bring the National Bank of Poland’s projection, which will hold informational weight. The Council remains relatively calm about inflation readings.
